Frédéric Jaeger (*1984) hat Filmwissenschaft und Philosophie an der Freien Universität Berlin studiert und Kunst und Medien an der Universität der Künste Berlin in der Klasse Narrativer Film von Prof. Thomas Arslan. Dort sind fünf Kurzfilme und ein Langspielfilm entstanden. Seine Kurzfilme liefen u.a. bei den Festivals Go Short, Max Ophüls Preis, Underdox, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, in Dresden, Hof, Oslo, Paris, Frankfurt, Bukarest, Moskau, Weiterstadt, Landshut und São Paulo. Der Spielfilm ALL WE EVER WANTED (aktuell in der Postproduktion) ist sein Abschlussfilm an der UdK und feiert 2024 Premiere.
Bevor er sich dem Filmemachen zugewendet hat, war er zwanzig Jahre als Filmkritiker und zehn als Festivalprogrammer tätig. Von 2015 bis 2020 war er Künstlerischer Leiter der Woche der Kritik Berlin und von 2019 bis 2023 war er Programmleiter beim Internationalen Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg. Als Autor war er journalistisch und essayistisch für diverse Medien tätig, u.a. Spiegel Online, Der Freitag, taz, Berliner Zeitung, Die Presse, Kolik.Film, Film Comment.

Frédéric Jaeger (*1984) studied film and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin and Art and Media in Prof. Thomas Arslan’s Narrative Film class at the Berlin University of the Arts. He made five short films and one feature-length film there. His short films screened at numerous festivals, such as Go Short, Max Ophüls Preis, Underdox, and Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, as well as in Dresden, Hof, Oslo, Paris, Frankfurt, Bucharest, Moscow, Weiterstadt, Landshut, and São Paulo. His first feature film, ALL WE EVER WANTED, created as a graduation film at the University of the Arts, is set to premiere in 2024.
Before turning to filmmaking, he worked as a film critic for twenty years and as a festival programmer for ten. He served as Artistic Director of Berlin Critics’ Week from 2015 to 2020 and Head of Program at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival from 2019 to 2023. He has contributed journalistic and essayistic pieces to a range of media outlets, such as Spiegel Online, Der Freitag, taz, Berliner Zeitung, Die Presse, Kolik.Film, and Film Comment.
